What KCS Teaches and How

KCS teaches research as a practical, explicit process and combines explanation, worked examples, guided application, review and reflection.

Teaching and supervision cycle

The cycle combines explanation, demonstration, guided application and feedback so learners can use the method independently.

Figure: Teaching and supervision cycle

Learners first understand why a step matters and how it connects to the complete process. A worked example makes the expected reasoning visible. They then apply the method to their own project, receive feedback against clear criteria and revise the result. Each cycle ends with a concrete action they can complete independently.

Who this is for

Students, researchers, supervisors, research groups, universities and institutes.

The problem we help solve

Learners often receive abstract rules but not enough demonstration of what to do next or how quality is judged.

How KCS approaches the work

Work progresses through four connected stages, from clarifying the need to producing a result that can be reviewed and used.

  1. Explain the purpose and complete workflow.
  2. Demonstrate each step with examples from different domains.
  3. Let participants apply the method to their own situation.
  4. Review outputs against clear criteria and improve them.

Concrete examples

A workshop turns broad interests into one-page Research Direction Briefs.

Mentoring connects each research objective to activities, evidence and planned written outputs.

What you can receive

  • Reusable method
  • Applied learner output
  • Feedback and correction
  • Independent next action
