A prospective researcher begins by understanding the problem rather than selecting a title alone. Fit is assessed against interests, prerequisites and available time. The question is then adapted to a feasible domain, dataset or evaluation context. Once scope and supervision are agreed, the project begins with a written plan and a defined first output.
